Brand Otard

We find in the National and Departmental Archives the origins of this maison Otard cognacs.

The Maison was founded in 1795 by JB Otard who bought the chateau which was for sale as national property following the decrees published during this period of the French Revolution.

This residence belonged to the Valois family, whose most famous descendant was François 1er Roi de France who was born there in 1494 and who, following the wars in Italy, returned to France and initiated the cultural and artistic movement of the Renaissance. He was the famous benefactor of the Arts and embellished Fontainebleau, Blois, and especially built the famous Château de Chambord.
